An easy explanation of the Apta Cash process
Important: How to get the most out of your Apta Cash benefit
-
Call 10 business days before any medical procedure. This lets your Apta Cash Team confirm your benefits, negotiate the best cash rates, and pay your provider directly. Which helps you avoid unexpected costs.
-
Don’t bring your insurance card. For every procedure negotiated through Apta Cash, you’ll have to present yourself as a “self-pay” patient at the provider’s office. If you present your card, you may get billed twice in error.
-
Remove your insurance information. If you handed over your insurance card, let the office know you want to remove it from your file so there’s no confusion for the billing department. Then, you can present yourself as self-pay.
Presenting yourself as, “self-pay” is your right under federal and state law. The only time you can’t choose this option is if your visit has already been billed to insurance or if special rules apply (like Medicare assignments).

Bottom line: You always have the choice to present yourself as a “self-pay” patient and take control of your healthcare spending.
